Currie 19, Watsonians 14

Currie survived a late Watsonians fight-back to secure a place in the second round of tournament.

After both sides had taken time to settle, Currie finally broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time with a try from Ian Monaghan. Greig Rutherford added the conversion.

Watsonians started the second period brightly, but some poor handling at the final moment denied them on a couple of occasions.

They were punished when Currie broke out and Rutherford went over for the try in the corner, but he failed to convert.

Currie sealed the tie with a third try, which Rutherford converted.

Two late converted tries from Craig Culken and Colin Gregor were only consolation for Watsonians, and Currie held on to face Melrose in the next round.
