Melrose 49, Currie 7
Melrose cruised into the quarter-finals with a seven try demolition of first round winners Currie. The hosts came out to a big cheer, and the home support was not disappointed in the opening half as Melrose killed off the tie. Bruce Ruthven claimed two tries, and Callum MacRae and Alec Clark one each as Melrose raced into a 28-0 lead at the break. MacRae converted all four.
Currie gained a consolation try through Mike Duncan, but Melrose responded with a converted try from John Dalziel. Bruce Ruthven claimed his third try of the tie, and then brother Scott skipped over for the final try of the tie. MacRae converted both.
