Sanix 15, Glasgow Hawks 31
Sanix crashed out of their first Melrose 7s at the first hurdle, as the Japanese outfit came unstuck against Glasgow Hawks.
Glasgow Hawks got of to the ideal start with an early try and conversion from Steven Duffy. The Japanese side responded with a try from Richard Norton, but they were blown away by two quick tries either side of half-time. Kenny Sinclair raced over late in the first period and then James Adams crossed in the second. Duffy converted both.
Takuro Mori crossed, but Hawks responded with a try from Graham Morrison, and although Ryuji Kofa crossed, Hawks had the final word with a second try from Adams, which Duffy converted.
