Boroughmuir 31 Heriot’s 12
Holders Boroughmuir got off to a dream start in the defence of their title with two early scores that put Heriots on the backfoot. Malcolm Clapperton crossed for the first, which Ally Warnock converted before grabbing the second try himself and also converting.
A second try from Clapperton put Boroughmuir in command, but Heriot’s stayed in the match with a try from Emosi Naisaramaki just before the break.
After squandering a chance in the opposite corner, Charlie Keenan put his side back in the driving seat with a try in the right hand corner. Replacement Rory Couper stretched the holders’ lead with a try in the same corner moments after coming on.
A late score from Andrew Wilson was only consolation for Heriots.
