Gala 0 Ponsonby 33

It was a sluggish start with opportunities being squandered at both ends of the pitch as Ponsonby tried to find their feet on their first visit to the Greenyards. The New Zealanders finally came to life with tries from Mathew Pert and Herman Bahn giving them a comfortable lead at the interval.

Ponsonby stretched their lead early in the second half with a second try from Bahn that was converted by Jeffray Ierome, and the outcome of the tie was put out of doubt when Sam Hala crossed for a fourth try for Ponsonby.

Gala handed a fifth try to Ponsonby on a plate with Tony Kounwaiyu needing only to fall on the fall to score after the Border side had dropped the ball behind their own line.
