A superb break by Kobus Meintjies brought the opening score for Stellenbosch in the first quarterfinal, and the South African converted his own try.

Some backchat from Kelso gave Stellenbosch the platform to extend their lead with Wilhelm Kock breaking the first line of defence before outrunning the cover defence. Kock added a second score soon after to underline the dominance of the South African. Just before the break a second try from Meintjies all but sealed a semi-final berth for the overseas side.

Kelso showed spirit in the second half, but a mistake in the Stellenbosch 22 saw Leonard Krantz race the length of the pitch to score. John Fleming added a late try for Kelso as the Borderers never gave up but Stellenbosch had the final word with a score from Handre Schmidt.
