Stellenbosch University 33 Boroughmuir 12
A quickly taken penalty from Wilhelm Koch brought the opening try for the South African centre, and Kobus Meintjies converted.
Stellenbosch doubled their lead midway through the opening half with Handre Schmidt breaking clear from halfway to score, and Meintjies again converted.
Boroughmuir recovered and took advantage of some sloppy handling by the South Africans, which allowed Charlie Keenan to cross for a simple try. Ally Warnock converted to half the deficit at the interval.
Wilhelm Kock grabbed his second try of the tie soon after the restart when Boroughmuir dropped the ball midfield. Meintjies again converted.
A poor pass by Keenan virtually sealed his teams’ fate with Meintjies this time grabbing the try, and then converting. Rory Couper snatched a late try, but the South African’s could not be denied a second final appearance and Leonard Krantz claimed a late try.
