Aberdeen G.S.F.P. 5, Heriots F.P. 35
Two tries from Emosi Naisaramaki helped Heriot’s set up an intriguing second round clash with defending champions Boroughmuir.
Heriot’s got off to a dream start when Fijian Naisaramaki jinked his way over within a minute of the start, and Calum Macrae converted. The little Fijian then put a superb last ditch tackle to deny Aberdeen before going up the field and scoring a second try for his side, that Macrae again converted.
Macrae then got on the try-scoring act himself with a converted score on the stroke of halftime before a further Heriot’s try from Marc Teague put the tie beyond Aberdeen early in the second period.
Aberdeen did gain some consolation on their first visit to the tournament when Tim Dinnen crossed, but Heriot’s had the last word with a try from Jonathan White.
