Matt Dehaty put Newcastle Falcons ahead with a well worked move down the left hand side before Mark Laycock did the damage on the opposite wing to double the English side’s lead.

Jed kept themselves in contention when Jamie McCraw squeezed into the corner before the break.

The Borderers good work was undone though when shortly after the restart Laycock converted Eddie Gesinde’s try.

Lee Dickson first raced and then walked in a brace of scores to make sure it wasn’t a wasted journey north for the city side.
