Watsonians good sevens form continued in this tie as they raced into a 26-0 lead at the break.

Iain Dryburgh put Watsonians in front before Alan Nash’s quick feet gave him the space to run from halfway to double the Edinburgh side’s lead.

Colin Gregor added one conversion before claiming a score of his own which he also converted.

Andy Turnbull scored as the rain came down and umbrellas went up with Gregor again converting for a convincing lead at the interval.

Watsonians stretched their lead in the second half when Gregor broke away to score his second of the tie before converting from in front of the posts.

The cloud of depression didn’t lift from the heads of the Peebles players as the Borderers fell at the first hurdle.
