Heriots 5, Melrose 21
Heriot’s Nick De Luca put his team into an early lead when he went over from close range, but a strong break from Karne Kaufana backed up by Jamie Murray and Mark Robertson had the home crowd raising their voices as Robertson scored for the hosts. Scott Ruthven’s conversion put Melrose into a narrow lead at the break.
David Whiteford blocked a kick ahead from the Edinburgh team and carried the ball deep into the Heriots half before offloading to Alex Clark as Melrose stretched their advantage.
Steven Shiel and Murray then combined for the latter to touchdown. Murray converted his own effort to send the hosts into the next round.
