Gala 10, Kelso 24
Callum McRae gave Gala an early lead, but his side failed to react quick enough when Tom Weir went to ground and Kelso’s Ally Haig took advantage to pick up and race over.
Kelso worked the ball on the Gala ’22 and it was Haig again who had the legs to clear the Maroons defence for his second score of the tie.
Gala opened after the break determined to keep themselves in the tie. Attacking the Kelso line, Chris Dalgleish was forced out to the left hand corner for the score, but Gala were unable to convert from the side line as Kelso maintain a two point lead.
The missed conversion wasn’t to affect the result though as James Smail dived over and then Gordon Laing crossed below the posts to clinch Kelso’s progression to the quarter finals.
