MELROSE INTERNATIONAL RUGBY SEVENS

Biggar 22 Hawick 17

Ryan Hogg glanced off the attentions of Stuart Harrison to get Hawick off to an ideal start. Rory Hutton added the simple conversion.

Keith Hedley extended the Greens lead seconds later when he crashed in at the right hand corner.

Greg Goodfellow was bundled into touch deep in his opponents ’22 and Biggar launched a swift counter attack back up field. Gary Walkinshaw and Graham White combined to send the former through for the score.

A crowd pleasing scoring dive from Chris McKeand coupled with both conversions from Quentin Sanft put Biggar ahead.

Goodfellow hit back for Hawick before Biggar restored their lead. Quick handling created space for Andrew Dunlop to cross for the score in the right hand corner.
With the clock ticking down Biggar added to their advantage with a late penalty from the boot of Sanft.
