Heriots built on their defeat of Langholm in the early stages of this tie with John Houston, Marc Teague (2) and James Thompson all crossing before the break.

Teague was replaced by Cameron Bruce during the interval and wasted no time in adding his name to the score sheet when he touched down in the left hand corner.

Thompson added the conversion to take Heriots 27 point out in front. It was a case of déjà vu for Stewarts/Melville when moments later Bruce went through for his second and Thompson slotted the ball between the posts.

Scott Newlands rounded off a high scoring tie for Heriot’s when Apo Satala played him in and Thompson again converted.
