MELROSE INTERNATIONAL RUGBY SEVENS

Jed-Forest 7 Boroughmuir 24

Boroughmuir raced into an early lead against the last remaining Borders representatives in the competition. Angus Martyn and then Rory Couper crossed without challenge. Howard Graham converted Martyn's effort.

The city side extended their lead when, despite being chased all the way by Greig Laidlaw, Calum Cusiter skipped over the line for the score. Graham added the simple conversion from in front of the posts.

Jed hit back straight from the restart when even some desperate tackling from Boroughmuir couldn't deny Ross Goodfellow with Greig Laidlaw landing the successful conversion.

'Muir rang the changes with Elgan O'Donnell and Sam Paulo combining to create the space for Couper to claim his second of the tie. The Edinburgh team were then content to hold on to possession as they saw out the tie to claim a semi-final berth against Newcastle Falcons.
