MELROSE INTERNATIONAL RUGBY SEVENS

Dundee HS 24 Gala 5

Dundee began the tie the strongest keeping Gala pushed back in their own ’22 and took advantage by scoring two tries. Richie Hawkins found space to cross the line unopposed before Cammy Ferguson broke away to add a second under the posts. Ferguson extended his side’s lead by kicking the conversion.
Gala put themselves back into contention when Tim Miskelly scored from the restart deep in the left-hand corner despite the attentions of Ferguson. Andy McLean hit his conversion attempt wide of the left-hand post.
Fraser Thomson created a good opportunity for Gala to close the gap when he slipped through a tackle on his 10 metre line, but he lost the ball when he was challenged just short of the try line.
Ferguson then extended his team’s advantage by breaking loose of a tackle from Shaun Law to scored under the posts again and kick the conversion. A third try from Ferguson on the final whistle made Gala the second Borders team out in two ties.
