Melrose 24 Selkirk 0
Melrose kept up the momentum from their first tie against Glasgow Hawks when they opened the scoring against last year’s Kings of the Sevens and current leaders of the Kings of the Sevens table, Selkirk. Mark Robertson crossed for an early double and Scott Wight added a single conversion. Selkirk went looking for a score pinning Melrose back, but when the hosts secured possession they broke quickly. David Whiteford was up in support and collected to score with Wight converting as his team took a 19-0 lead into the break. Neither side gave much away in the second half, but Melrose succeeded in shutting out Selkirk with John Dalziel combining with Graeme Dodds to score the final try of the tie and put a second Borders side into the quarter-finals.
