The Scottish Thistles threw away an early opportunity when they were penalised for crossing, but they made up for the mistake moments later to go in front.
Mike Adamson found Richie Vernon who seemed like he would score, but pressure from the Italians forced him to find Greig Laidlaw who made sure of the five points. Ally Warnock converted.
Roma, though, worked their way back into the tie when Lloyd O’Connor crossed from close range to narrow the difference to two points at the interval.
Ben Addison ran on to a kick ahead before dribbling and picking up the ball to score by the posts as Thistles extended their advantage.
The Scots were on top now dominating possession and Chris Fusaro collected a chip over the top before run the ball in behind the posts. Warnock’s conversion closed the scoring as the Thistles marched into the semi-finals.
