Jed Forest 12 Leicester Tigers 38
Leicester Tigers put Jed on the back foot from the kick off with a try from Gregor Gillanders before Matt Smith broke through from halfway for a second score just moments later. Ignacio Mieres kicked both conversions as the Borderers fell 14 points behind. Jed hit back when Gary Hill slipped a pass to David Gobby who had the pace to touch down. Clark Laidlaw though, sliced his conversion attempt. The Scots plied some more pressure to the Tigers’ line, but when they lost possession the English seven powered their way through a couple of challenges before Smith made the decisive break to grab his second of the tie. The Tigers found their stride quickly after the interval with Gillanders finding Mieres who touched down and then kicked the conversion. Jed continued to make a match of it when good support play saw Donald Grieve pickup to score from close range. Laidlaw converted before Jed threatened again. However, when they lost the ball in a tackle just short of the Tigers’ line, Leicester picked up and played the ball quickly. Ben Youngs broke away and converted his try from in front of the posts. Smith added a late counter to claim a hat-trick.
