Davidson Chalmers Melrose Sevens VETS Tournament
Make Friday 10th April 2015, the start of your Aberdeen Asset Management Melrose Sevens weekend and join us for a great day of ten-a-side rugby action.
Now in its eighth year, the Davidson Chalmers VETS Tournament attracts teams from across Scotland, the UK and further afield to play social VETS rugby.
The tournament began as part of the wider 125th Melrose Sevens anniversary celebrations. Ulster won the first title with many of the side that won the 1999 Heineken Cup final, but lost out in 2009 to a Border Reivers select team that featured a host of Borders internationalists.
The tournament has welcomed some of rugby 7s legends and competitors over the years have included the Fijian maestro Waisale Serevi, as well as Scottish internationalists the Hastings brothers, Craig Chalmers, Doddie Weir, Graham Shiel and Rowen Shepherd.
“Davidson Chalmers is proud to be sponsoring the Melrose Sevens VETS for the sixth consecutive year. Since its launch in 2008, the VETS tournament has opened the Melrose Sevens weekend and we look forward to an even greater celebration of rugby in 2015. Veterans rugby is now established as an integral part of social rugby and it is enjoyed nowhere more enthusiastically than in Melrose, the international home of rugby sevens.”

The tournament kicks off at 11:30am at Battery Field, Annay Road, Melrose and culminates in Plate, Bowl and Cup finals. This year The Crusaders RFC will be defending The Davidson Chalmers Cup.
